Internal Affairs is one of the most important functions of the police department. To insure department
integrity, honesty and professionalism, not only must the department investigate all allegations of misconduct
but must also monitor the day to day operations of high-risk functions such as Pursuits, Use of Force, and
Prisoner Custody to insure compliance with guidelines.
Topics Covered:
This course will cover Police Involved Shootings, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Police Vehicle Accident
Review, Prisoner Injuries and Death, Use of Force, Random Drug Testing, Civilian Complaints, Allegations of
Criminal Acts, Allegations of other Misconduct, File Maintenance and Retention Guidelines, Video
Surveillance in Station and in Patrol Cars, Determining at What Level an Investigation Should be Conducted,
Conducting Watch Level Investigations, Progressive Discipline, Working with the Prosecutor's Office and
Computerized Databases.
Who Should Attend:
Internal Affairs Unit Commanders and IA Investigators will benefit from this course. This course is also
designed to be beneficial to Watch Commanders and Supervisors who are charged with not only conducting
Watch Level Investigations but are crucial to the IA process as first responding supervisor. The course is
designed to cover procedures established by the New Jersey Attorney General however personnel from other
states will also benefit from the general principles presented.
Instructor:
Lt Anthony Saporito, Commander, Internal Affairs Unit, is a 20 year veteran of Cherry Hill, NJ Police
Department, has extensive experience in patrol operations, investigative operations and police management.

The cost for this 2 day, 16 hour course is only $295.00 per student. This training is available only to sworn
law enforcement officers.
